About

Lydia Shearsmith is a visual artist based in the North East of England. Shearsmith explores the capabilities of photographic techniques and the agency of light to reveal the complex possibilities of our immediate surroundings. Predominantly using household objects and fundamental infrastructures, Shearsmith’s approach challenges how we understand our surroundings, placing importance on what is commonly overlooked and prompting a contemplation for the metaphysical.
